A twenty-four member team comprising twenty-four athletes and three officials left the state yesterday to compete in the 15th Biennial Caribbean Union of Teachers Students’ Athletics Championships commonly referred to as the CUT Games. The event will take place at the Hasley Crawford Stadium, Port-of-Spain, Trinidad and Tobago from July 25 and 26.
The Team which is led by Chef De Mission; Sports Teacher Ms Rhona Daniel also includes experienced Athletics Coach and Sports Officer Mr. Godwin Dorsette who will serve as Head Coach and Sports Teacher Mr. Julian Lloyd Benjamin as assistant Coach. The athletes are: Jaqwan St.Amie, Sarwan Lockhart, Leon Hypolite, Nelson Maxim, Jael Eusebe, Jayse Burnette, Aaron Neisbit, Joshua Rabess, Dario Frank, Larian Tulloch, Tianna Jennel Jno Lewis, Anelia Austrie, Deliza Etienne, Moesha Thomas, Naomi Scotland, Ellisa James, Jada Scotland, Kimisha Jno Baptiste, Adicia Burton, Jarnilia Phillip and Alika St. John.
The Team is bubbling with excitement and enthusiasm. The Team has undergone a rigorous regime of training in jumping and throwing techniques and sprint, endurance and Relay racing. Team Dominica is expected to perform well.
The Dominica Association of Teachers is grateful to the Establishment, Personnel and Training Department, Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development, Parents of the athletes, schools and the general public for their support in preparing the students for the Games.
