A nineteen member team comprising sixteen athletes and three officials left Dominicayesterday for Antigua en route to Jamaicato participate in the 14th Biennial Caribbean Union of Teachers Students’ Athletic Championships.
The Team which is led by Chef De Mission Ms Rhona Daniel also includes experienced Athletic Coach and Sports Officer Mr. Godwin Dorsette who will serve as Head Coach and Youth Sports Officer Mr. Joseph Bazil as assistant Coach. The athletes are: Shanee ANGOL, Anelia AUSTRIE, Kellandie BULLY, Randel COIPEL, Tatjana HONORE, Leon HYPOLITE, Jennel JNO-LEWIS, Vanelcia JOHN, Tyler JONES, Chelsea LAWRENCE, Gylles MITCHEL, Jernel PHILLIP, Glendon PIERRE-LOUIS, Lemuel SAMUEL, Sherrine SERRANT and Josh TOUSSAINT.
The Team is bubbling with excitement and enthusiasm having just concluded a training camp inPortsmouth. The Team has undergone a rigorous regime of training in sprint, endurance, jumping and throwing techniques. Relay racing was another area of focus; in particular the baton exchange. Team Dominica is expected to perform well.
The Dominica Association of Teachers is grateful to the Establishment, Personnel and Training Department, Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development, Management and staff of Issaa Trading, Mini Cash, Parents of the athletes, and schools for their support in preparing the students for the Games.
